Lycée International de Londres
Today we visited the Lycée French School at Wembley, this is the same school as the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle de Londre in West London and can be reached on the Jubilee or Metropolitan Line around 20 minutes from Central London. as they had an open day. We have had quite a few French clients choosing to send their children to this school. We wanted to go along and see the school campus and meet the school staff. The original building is on the site of the former Brent Town Hall in Wembley, London. The five-acre campus includes all newly-refurbished and purpose-built buildings and 12,000 square metres of newly refurbished and purpose-built teaching spaces. Opened in 2015, It’s an independent French international school serving students from age 5 to 17. The school capacity is set at 1300 pupils, from 2018, they will be taking English speaking students.
Internationale du Baccalauréat
There are currently around 900 students with around 40 nationalities. This French school prepares students for the French Baccalauréat diploma, with or without international option (OIB – Option Internationale du Baccalauréat). The French national curriculum provides the core of the bilingual international programme. Students have the opportunity to sit the French Baccalaureate in the Sciences, Social Sciences or Literature paths, with or without the International Option (Option Internationale du Baccalauréat – OIB). In addition, the school is now an IB Diploma Programme candidate school and will be offering a new English International Programme starting from Year 7 in September 2018. This is aimed at local and international families and all subjects (science, maths, humanities, arts etc.) will be taught in English. The programme will lead to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in years 12 and 13. We listened to a very interesting opening speech given by Mireille Rabaté, head of school where she explained that the schools core values are integrity, courage and respect. The senior school staff we spoke to were very friendly and enthusiastic about what the school had to offer. Unusually for a French school, pupils wear a ‘relaxed’ uniform, – four tops in purple, burnt orange, light blue and aqua green
Annual school fees for 2017- 2018:
Maternelle (5 year olds): £11,360 Primaire (6-10 year olds): £10,610 Collège (11-14 year olds): £10,610 Lycée (15-17 year olds): £11,360
We have moved many French parents to Central London properties with good direct transport facilities to the school There are fortunately good, cheaper properties nearer the school, if budgets do not stretch that far.
